There is no fact against this, but for the people of Bintan, 67 percent lack basic access to education and work. 46 percent of secondary students drop out of school due to unskilled and untrained educators. Though the number of foreign investors is on a steady incline, attention to the development of the Bintan people is not.

As global disparity between the rich and the poor continue to expand, it becomes ever clearer that our generation will be the one to figure out how to start closing the gap. This social engagement is designed for those with a passion for service, and an interest in education and community development in Southeast Asia. This engagement will give you the opportunity to hold discussions with Soconomist coordinators working on the ground in the heart of our communities.
